Aqueduto da Agua de Prata
(Aqueduct of Silver Water), Evora, Portugal
The Aqueduct of Silver Water (Aqueduto da Agua de Prata) finished in 1530. The water was delivered to Evora's Praca do Giraldo and supplied fresh water to the arid town of Evora. In the northwest of Evora houses were even built below the arches of the Aqueduto da Agua de Prata (Aqueduct of Silver Water).
5 miles of the original aqueduct still remain and is best viewed outside Evora. The architect Francisco de Arruda was locally born and designed the Aqueduto da Agua de Prata (Aqueduct of Silver Water). To read further about Evora click here.
