Day 1 - Day 2 - Day 3 - Lisbon Excursion

Day 3 Morning - Parque das Nações

Expo park was constructed for the 1998 Expo and this eastern side district has been completely rejuvenated into the the modern face of Lisbon. Within Expo park, renamed Parque das Nações, almost a whole day can be spent within the park if the excellent Lisbon Oceanarium and large shopping centre is visited.

Sights and activities of Parque das Nações includes:

• The Vasco da Gama Bridge at 15km the longest bridge in Europe spanning the Tejo Estuary.
• The Lisbon Oceanarium, with its 4 tanks representing the 4 ocean climates.
• A ride in the cable car along the length of the park.
• The numerous strange or educational pieces of art dotted about the park.
• The ultra modern station Gare do Oriente and attached cruise liner styled shopping centre.
• The Vasco Da Gama Tower standing high above the River Tejo Estuary.
• Hiring a bike an cycling the length of the park.

Afternoon - Relaxing Activities

A relaxing afternoon in preparation for a busy night, activities could include:

• A ferry ride across the River Tejo to view Lisbon from the water.
• Drinking in the open air cafes in Rua August in Baixa
• Riding the number 28 Tram around the historic centre of Lisbon.

Evening/Night - Expo Park

Expo park is the trendy place to spend a large night, Thursday friday and saturdays are always more crowded so try to plan to go out on one of these nights. All of the bars, restaurants and clubs are in one long strip so unlike Barrio Alto little walking is needed.

The clubs usually have drink offers as the portuguese are not great drinkers but do expect fussy door staff. Clubs start late, 11pm is opening, and only fill up after 1am. The night would include:

• Watch as the sun sets and the park transforms into one of the trendiest locations in Portugal.
• Early evening - Portuguese Families come out for dinner in one of the excellent restaurants.
• Mid evening - lounging in one of the numerous bars ranging from Irish, Salsa or karaoke.
• Late evening – dance until sun rise in one of the late night clubs which are above the bars.

The popular shisha / Moroccan bar of Expo is not in the strip of bars but much further northern in the residential area, many tourist have be know to waste a night looking for this bar.
