Lisbon is surrounded by two very unique and interesting tourist destinations, the traditional beach resort of Cascais and the royal town of Sintra. Both locations are within half an hours train journey from central Lisbon and are highly recommenced. By visiting both of these towns a holiday to Lisbon could be easily extended up to 6 days.

Day Trip to Sintra

Sintra was described by the poet Lord Byron, in 1809, as the most beautiful town of the world and today Sintra is still one of the prettiest locations of Portugal. Sintra lies within the dramatic Serra De Sintra hills which hides three unique palaces; the Feather, the Moorish and the National. Day Trip to Cascais

Cascais has the swankiest beaches of the Lisbon area and it is here that Lisbon's rich and famous like to flash their money. The town has shunned the ugly development of mass tourism and the centre still retains a strong tie to the historic fishing industry while the wealth has ensured that Cascais is one of Portugal's best maintained towns.
