Igreja de Santo Antonio
(Church of Saint Anthony), Lisbon

The Igreja de Santo Antonio was built on the birth place of Lisbon's favourite saint, Saint Anthony, he has brought many strange tradition which have been interwoven into daily Portuguese life to read about them click here. The facade of the church has the appearance of a regal house more than a place of worship.

The statue in front of Igreja de Santo Antonio was blessed by Pope John Paul II on his visit to Portugal on the 12th May 2000 as part of Apostolic Voyage 92. The Igreja de Santo Antonio is next to the grand Se cathedral and is on the route of the number 28 tram.
