The Estuary and Historic District of Vila Nova de Milfontes, Portugal

his image was taken from the south bank looking back across the estuary to historic district of Vila Nova de Milfontes. The central gray walls are the foundations and walls of the ivy covered fort which used to protect the town from invaders.

To the right is the central square and the monument to the pilots who flew to Macau. The estuary is sheltered from the Atlantic and an enclosed swimming area provides a safe area to bath during the hot summer months. Back to Vila Nova de Milfontes information pages.
